Adaptation and Pathogenesis of Microorganisms
The CNRS UMR5163 laboratory is dedicated to research in the field of microbiology, using an integrative approach aimed at understanding adaptive processes and pathogenesis of microorganisms (bacteria, parasites, prion, new and reemerging infectious agents). Our investigation is based on comparative genomics, studies of evolution, analysis of virulence factors and phenomena leading to susceptibility to pathogens (species barrier, innate and adaptive immunity). Our approach, using biochemical, cellular, and transgenic animal models, goes from studies of specific processes towards global analysis and modelling. This knowledge should be beneficial for development of preventive measures, understanding risks and anticipating treatments.
